Firefox thinks flashplugin is out-of-date but pacman says not

[Context: I'm trying to troubleshoot a Blackboard related problem.]

According to pacman, flashplugin is installed as follows:

$ pacman -Qi flashplugin
Name : flashplugin
Version : 11.2.202.442-1
Description : Adobe Flash Player
Architecture : x86_64
URL : http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
Licences : custom
Groups : None
Provides : flashplayer
Depends On : mozilla-common libxt libxpm gtk2 nss curl hicolor-icon-theme
Optional Deps : libvdpau: GPU acceleration on Nvidia card [installed]
Required By : None
Optional For : None
Conflicts With : None
Replaces : None
Installed Size : 22.67 MiB
Packager : Felix Yan <felixonmars@archlinux.org>
Build Date : Dydd Iau 05 mis Chwefror 2015 15:40:23 GMT
Install Date : Dydd Iau 05 mis Chwefror 2015 20:18:58 GMT
Install Reason : Explicitly installed
Install Script : Yes
Validated By : Signature

However, firefox insists that flashplugin is older:

Shockwave Flash 11.2.r202.440
Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202
libflashplayer.so
05.02.15
application/x-shockwave-flash (Shockwave Flash: swf),
application/futuresplash (FutureSplash Player: spl)

So the installation date matches but the version, apparently, does not.

Another question suggested restarting Firefox but doing so makes no difference.

I don't seem to have any other copy of the software installed on the system:

$ locate libflashplayer.so
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so

I gather from other threads that the update is recognised correctly for other people, so any suggestions would be appreciated. Firefox, of course, refuses to allow the plugin to be used on the grounds that it is outdated.

[Note that I am using Arch's build of Firefox. I mention this because I have previously posted about problems and have been using Mozilla's build. However, the language pack has suddenly started working so I no longer have any reason to install Mozilla's standalone Welsh build. To be absolutely, positively sure, I just checked that I am using /usr/bin/firefox.]

Re: Firefox thinks flashplugin is out-of-date but pacman says not

What command produced the second block of output?  I could try that here to see what I get.

Do you know which version of flash is required?  Many sites require versions of flash which do not (and will not) exist for linux - pipelight seems to be the best option for those sites.

edit: I gather that second block is from the addons dialog info.  In mine I see the following:

Shockwave Flash 11.2.r202.442
Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202
libflashplayer.so
05.02.15
application/x-shockwave-flash (Shockwave Flash: swf),
application/futuresplash (FutureSplash Player: spl)

So there does seem to be a discrepancy.

Have you tried with a clear/new profile?  Perhaps the plugin could get cached in the profile (wild speculation).

Firefox has sometimes issues with updating the plugin database, please read the wiki.

flashplugin is reported outdated:

Apart from pipelight, you can also use freshplayerplugin-git:

Re: Firefox thinks flashplugin is out-of-date but pacman says not

Alad, whoever reported flashplayer as out of date was wrong.  The version in the repos is the last version available from adobe.

If the most recent version from adobe is sufficient, Progandy's advice is the right fix as CFR has the latest version installed,  but firefox doesn't recognize it.
