SSMTP cron stdout/stderr mailed out not put to /var/spool/mail/root

Hi guys,

Normally echos from CRON are delivered locally to /var/spool/mail/root
But after SSMTP installation unless you specify root alias, cron out and error streams go into a black hole which makes auditing/troubleshooting impossible. Having it mailed out is an issue if your box looses net connectivity as then you cannot troubleshoot anything. Plus I got some chatty cronjobs so my own box is spamming me, I dont want to pipe it to a spambox as should something happen with mail I will never be able to troubleshoot the issue short of changing the default mailer back to sendmail.  How do I enable local delivery for root to /var/spool/mail/root with ssmtp?
