Strange konsole output

Hi all,
some commands (like mkinicpio, makepkg, and also pacman) give a truncated output like in image below (this is for mkinicpio)

http://s24.postimg.org/xv6b5avcl/schermata20.png

Can anyone tell me why? I use KDE 5 and konsole is 3.01 with kde Framerowrks 5.8.0

thanks

Re: Strange konsole output

What actual command was used?  That doesn't look like pacman or mkinitcpio output, it looks like yaourt output.  Do you have the same problem if you use pacman, makepkg, or mkinitcpio directly?

Re: Strange konsole output

Do you get the same results in a tty, or just in Konsole?  If just Konsole, have you tried other terminal emulators?  You could also try the following for diagnostics:

source /usr/lib/initcpio/functions

msg "some longish message to see if it gets cut off"

The first of those will likely give a couple error messages, but they can be ignored.  The test is whether the second line prints out the whole message.

Re: Strange konsole output

Did you resize the terminal at some point?

Re: Strange konsole output

Try a different font.  I recommend a monospaced font.   I find Konsole gets its kerning very, very wrong with whatever the default is on the systems I have installed recently.

Re: Strange konsole output

Thank you! the problem was the default monospace font in konsole (oxygen monospace): selecting  i.e Andale Monospace the problem solved smile
