k3b transcode issues

I'm trying to rip an encrypted dvd with k3b. When I first installed k3b with pacman I think it missed transcode as a dependency because when I tried to rip it said it needed it and to make sure it's installed. So I installed it and finally started ripping but half way through I got an error. Here is the debug log (I couldn't paste the entire log because chrome would crash when I tried, guess it's to much. So I have pasted just what I think is important, if anything else is needed just ask.):

That last part was repeated for like a billion lines.

I tried googling this issue but it seems to be pretty specific to me. I did find would result but it was with another program for windows so I didn't read to much into that. Do any of you have any ideas?

Re: k3b transcode issues

The supporting 'transcode' hasn't been maintained very well, and can't be used.

When ripping DVDs in Linux, I use 'ffmpeg' as a working alternative.. After copying the VTS files to a a faster disk, a command like this works well:

ffmpeg -i concat:"./VTS_02_0.VOB|./VTS_02_1.VOB|./VTS_02_2.VOB|./VTS_02_3.VOB|./VTS_02_4.VOB" -map 0:v -map 0:a -c:v libx264 -crf 14 -c:a aac ripped-DVD.mp4

You may (of course) choose a more ad advanced codec X264 if you like. However:,this command creates a single video stream without chapter marks. If you want to re-create the chapters, you will need to add those by hand. in a later step.

lol, this post was from 2015, nearly 10 years ago... I don't even remember what I was ripping then.
