After updating, I cannot start GDM anymore. I edited /etc/gdm/custom.conf and uncommented "Enable=true" to enable debugging.
The output of "sudo gdm" is this (it hangs, I mean the log starts over and over again indefinitely... so I kill it using CTRL+C).
When I call mutter (with or without sudo) I receive the following error: "mutter: error while loading shared libraries: libgirepository-1.0.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

Hi,
does (re-)installing This help?
It provides libgirepository-1.0.

Hi, I have this (the same package from testing) which doesn't provide that file. I wonder if this is expected...
Anyway, downgrading gobject-introspection makes the mutter error disappear (now it complains about being unable to open the display). Still, GDM won't start (it "loops", giving each time the usual log)

Ha, that's the package i meant (had both open, copied the wrong link).
After reading this i thought that reinstalling that particular package might help.

Reinstalled the testing version, still the same error when launching mutter...

I am having the same problem. Currently I only tried it on a system with intel graphics.
I updated clutter-gst and gobject-introspection before gnome, but this doesn't seem to be sufficient.

Solved!
You must reinstall the package gobject-introspection-runtime (which has the *.so files, now)
Anyway, I think this may be a pacman issue. I'm absolutely positive that:
1) The *.so files weren't there
2) "pacman -Ql gobject-introspection-runtime" listed them as being there
3) After reinstalling, the files suddenly were there
