is it possible that nvidia module conflicts with others ?
i have a SCSI drive and after every boot of linux my drive become more corrupted (bad sectors) so i had to quit linux enter SCSI setup, verify disc and reassign bad blocks .. and that every boot ...
i noticed that my drive always broke while loading nvidia module (nvidia-legacy)
is it possible that this module conflicts with something ?
right now i booted without nvidia and everything seems to be ok .. but i cannot use X
I'm no expert, but I would highly doubt that the nvidia driver is corrupting your disk...
Is it actually giving you an error on bootup, or do the bad blocks just show up when you run a disk scan?

i highly doubt that your problem is due to nvidia-legacy + scsi
as ive been running both for over a year or whenever it was they switched to the -legacy
with no problems
id say if in scsi setup its reassigning bad sectors its taking or moving info on linux & linux goes corrupt . id say your drive is going bad possibly .
id recommend you backup all wanted/needed files go into scsi setup format drive & then verify again & reinstall if you dare to put it back on same drive .
if you are in u.s. & running 160 80pin or get 80>68 pin adapter checkout this

so i must bought a new drive
i cant answer that without doing some testing
1st off like i said backup all wanted info
in scsi setup (cmos/bios/whatever you want to call it)
then id install some live preconfiured distro run it for a week see if you still run into errors
if not id say reinstall arch or whatever os's you want (only one at a time dont waste time setting them up cause you might still get errors)
thats what i would do if you only have 1 scsi drive & your running
SCSI Ultra160 then take a look at the drive on the link i posted
or look around try pricewatch.com or wherever your favorite place to shop is
for the price diffrence a used scsi drive aint that bad usually
the gamble has paid off for me so far
