startx to french gnome

Hi

I never actually used startx to boot gnome in french and since my friend ( whom trying to learn linux) does not understand english and i'm stuck because i donno how to boot Gnome in french, ok i know that GDM can do it easly, but on his ancient PC I'm booting 2 X servers, one using ssh tunnel to open a session on my PC and the other one using startx -- :1 but gnome open in english as u know, how to make it french??
