Go to Archlinux.org
Search for your package
Click it's name
Click Flag Out of Date.
Then the maintainer will know.

Our dev team is dedicated, but small - they will get around to it. In the menatime, you can use ABS to build 1.70 yourself.
Read the wiki pages, and have a go. If you have any questions, ask away.
