I found various threads but most of them indicated a bad SATA cable to be the issue. Since this is a mSATA drive which is directly attached to the mainboard there's no cable involved.

Any ideas what might cause the issues? If the drive itself has a defect, is there a way of "stress-testing" it?

Re: Issue with mSATA drive

I suspect this is something you should try to ask upstream, most probably that drive needs some quirks to work without reporting problems and upstream is the best place to ask about this.

On the other hand maybe someone here already dealt with something similar and maybe you can use some workaround to avoid the problem until a proper fix is in place, this still implies reporting this issue upstream.

Thanks for your reply. What exaclty do you mean by upstream?

In this case upstream means talking with the kernel devs, this means reporting the problem in the kernel bugtracker.
