printer icon in panel

First Question:
In Ubuntu I've noticed a printer icon that would appear for a brief period in the panel during printing.  This was particularly helpful when errors accorded.  Is this just an "Ubuntu-thing", or is it possible to activate this in Arch as well?

Second Question:
Every time I print large files the printer pauses afterwards so I have to resume printing.  How could I stop this from happening?

Thanks in advance

Re: printer icon in panel

I had it, but I install other 'system-config-printer ', so it must show it, and session is added (automatically) Here's the screen shot:
