Hi,
I just updated my Arch with Gnome Shell and I have no sound now in: Firefox Flash player, Totem and VLC media player. I have sound in Google Chrome Flash, MPlayer and in the Sound app from settings that tests sound for each speaker also works.
I also plug my PC to a HDMI smart TV and I have to manually switch audio devices (might be related).
I also took a look at alsamixer and tried to enable/disable stuff there while a Totem was playing in the background but no help, the sound was still off.
I also have a rsync bootable backup before I updated Gnome Shell to version 3.16 but strangely this also has the same sound issues.
How can I troubleshoot this?
Thank you!
Andrei

This plays the sound
$aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
Please take a look at the result of running
$pacmd list-sinks > ~/pacmd_list-sinks.txt
https://pastebin.mozilla.org/8829732
Why do I have 2 sinks and why is one in
state: RUNNING
and the other in
state: SUSPENDED
suspend cause: IDLE
Might this be related to my issue? Thank you!

I managed to fix this. I opened alsamixer and tried all the possible combinations of settings and I managed to make it work. I first broket for MPlayer, Settings test sound and also for Google Chrome Flash player then I figured out that the settings in alsamixer were broken. I don't know how they got broken. http://imgur.com/jlkqPoM
