After upgrading to gnome 3.16 I noticed that firefox does not remember its last position.
All other programms open at the exact same place I last closed them (if nothing else is shown on the desktop)
However Firefox opens in the exact middle of the screen, which is very annoing.
When I resize the width of the firefox window to about halv the screen it acually reopens at the same spot.
But as soon as the window size is about a little bigger than half the screen size it reopens in the middle again.
Can anyone tell me what service is responsible for remembering the window positions in gnome?

found the solution:
- resize firefox until it is almost maximized
- close and reopen firefox, the window is for some reason now maximized
- resize the window (like 2/3 of the screen)
fixed
alternative (resets all settings) delete ~/.mozilla/firefox

Argh! No need to be so harsh! Instead, 1) click on the hamburger menu, 2) click on the interrogation sign at the bottom, 3) select "Troubleshooting information" (or equivalent in your locale), 4) click on the big button on the top right called "Refresh Firefox" (or whatever it is in your locale). You won't lose your bookmarks.
You will lose your installed extensions, write them down before refreshing in case that you are not storing them in Firefox Sync; (which installs them automatically when you log in again).
I break things and put them back together for fun and sometimes profit, because it is the only way to learn.

Sorry but the issue is not solved. Both solutions work, but only for a moment. Next time I close and open Firefox again, it is again at full screen size. This also happens with Gnome 3.16 in Debian 8.4, where it is the default desktop. I am really surprised that such bugs remain unfixed in such "main stream" environments. Problem also exists if you make a fresh install of Debian and create the entire user home and Firefox profile from scratch. Irritating.

Please create a new topic for you issue, and link back to this one if it is still relevant.
