Intel 7260 N Problem

I Bought a Dell Vostro 5670 Notebook with a Intel Wireless 7260N + Bluetooth but i have no luck in connecting it with any network.

The wifi recognizes wifi networks but, when connect to any it just drop the connection even before connecting, like it was impossible to connect, i have two wireless connections at home and any connection is working. I just cannot connect to a wifi network.

Stuff that ive done, no solutions change in results:

-> Adding 11n_disable=1 or 11n_disable=8 to iwlwifi.
-> Running iwconfig [adapter] power off
-> Suspend power management for the card
-> Remove driver "12" to fallback to "11"

Re: Intel 7260 N Problem

I have a different card (Centrino 2230) but I had the same issue - it kept trying and failing to associate.

Changing my AP security from WPA Auto to WPA2 AES fixed it.

I don't know what it was about WPA Auto it didn't like since it worked in Windows. Worth a look, it's the same driver.

Re: Intel 7260 N Problem

Thanks for the reply @clidx.

Ive checked on my router and is already WPA AES (i really dont remember why i choose AES over TKIP or Auto).

Now, i dont know the reason why, its connecting to the network, but, theres no packages incomming or getting out.

Sometimes, very rarelly, after severam tries i got some package i/o, but, very unstable and very slow, for comparing, this is the Dell with Intel 7260:

And this is my other notebook (A asus with a Atheros AR9485 wich has the fame of bad signal) connected to the same wireless connection, less than half a meter far from the Dell:
4321354606.png

ps. Tested from the same server with the same router and the same internet connection and even the same system hahaha, i have Arch Linux/KDE on both.

And even with this bad speed, NetworkManager reports to me that the strenght of the signal is good, for instance, the router that i did this test has 55% of signal strenght informed by NetworkManager (on Asus with Atheros i got 58%).

I have another router like half a meter from the Dell and i cannot even send/receive anything from this one, connects but, no data transter, and it has 88% of signal strenght informed by NetworkManager (Asus/Atheros has 78%).

Re: Intel 7260 N Problem

I also have this issue (I have Dell laptop with intel AC 7260 card). I think the problem is caused by new version of wpa_supplicant that was recently pushed to arch repositories (wpa_supplicant 2.4-1). I downgraded this package to the previous version (2.3-1) and my wireless connection is working fine.

Re: Intel 7260 N Problem

Thank @Prymoo

Ive downgraded wpa_supplicant to 2.3-1 but no result, still the same problem. You have done any other ajust to your system?

Edit: Well, i readed on net alot of people complaining about this card on a variety of systems, so, i gave up and bought Broadcom Bcm94322hm8l and im waiting for arrive, i hope this card will work better. Anyway, if someone has the solution, i still have the 7260 and dont plan to get rid of it.

THANKS SO MUCH! Installing the old 2.3-1 wpa_supplicant solved my problem with my Intel 7260. Now I get connected at gdm login. Before it took about 15 seconds after login.

I got this error with the newest wpa_supplicant:

wpa_supplicant[22993]: process 22993: arguments to dbus_message_iter_append_basic() were incorrect, assertion "_dbus_check_is_valid_path (*string_p)" failed in file dbus-message.c line 2681.

EDIT: Upgraded again to the newest version of wpa_supplicant (nothing else changed) and the problem did not come back again. I get much less noise from systemd status log of wpa_supplicant than before. Can not really explain this..

Re: Intel 7260 N Problem

Well, I think this problem was not directly connected to intel 7260, see this thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=196584

@hoome linux-firmware was updated yesterday, maybe it is still worth a shot to check if your 7260 works correctly after this update?

@Prymoo, i've updated linux-firmware (alongside with the whole system) and still a pretty unstable wifi connection, i will just wait to Broadcom card arrives. I hope this one will be better.
