Canon CAPT doesn't work on 64 bit system

i followed the guide Canon CAPT, but because of my 64bit installation i think i can't get it to work.
I am trying to install a canon LBP3010.

Re: Canon CAPT doesn't work on 64 bit system

n.louahedj,

I, too, have a 64-bit system, and my capt-src setup (for a Canon LBP6000) works flawlessly. A couple of notes on how I got there:

1. I notice the Canon CAPT wiki article called for installing the printer by entering

lpadmin -p LBP6310 -m CNCUPSLBP6310CAPTK.ppd -v ccp://localhost:59787 -E

However, post-install instructions from the capt-src package (and hence the ones I used) call for installing the printer with

lpadmin -p LBP6310 -m CNCUPSLBP6310CAPTK.ppd -v ccp://localhost:59687 -E

Note the difference in the localhost address. I have edited the Wiki article to reflect this change.

2. The second note is still under debate. There is a dialogue about this in the comments of the capt-src package in AUR, but if the printer still doesn't work, you might try it. It involves duplicating the package's files in usr/lib32 to /usr/lib. They can be identified with "pacman -Ql capt-src." Several users report that without that step, all printing jobs report success without error, but the printer simply remains silent. That was my experience, too.

Hope this helps.

Re: Canon CAPT doesn't work on 64 bit system

cjazz,
Thank you for your replay.
i changed the port to 59687, and i duplicated  the package's files in usr/lib32 to /usr/lib. But it still doesn't work.
When i take a look to the status of the printer using the CUPS web interface i get these messages: "Can't connect to CCPD: Connection refused" and "Paused - "ccp send_data error, exit"" and the 'captstatusui -P LBP3010' command tells me "Ready to print".
