May 2015 Screenshots Thread

Posting Guidelines

· DO NOT post full resolution screenshots!  You can use the "mogrify" command (pacman -S imagemagick) to make a thumbnail of your screenshot:

$ convert -resize 250x250 screenie.png thumb-screenie.png

Sizes Twenty percent of the original size is great for 1024x768 screenies. For bigger sizes (and especially for multi-monitor setups), we ask you to keep in mind not everyone uses broadband, and use an even smaller size (10% of a Full HD setup will still be 192x108, for example).

NOTE: Anything wider than 250px or over 50Kb in size will be removed.

You can then upload these images to your server and use the following code to show them on the forum:

thumb-20090621-3647748995.png
*Thanks to Thayer for the screenie (more...)

· Several websites offer free image hosting.

Use the "thumbnail for forums" link code that is supplied by the image host to post your thumbnail link.

· Once the new month begins please do not post new screenies in the old threads.

· If the screenshot has questionable material that might not be safe to view while at work or in a school setting, please post only a link and not a thumbnail, along with a mention of "Not Safe for Work". Posts that do not adhere to this are subject to deletion without notice at any time.

· Please try to include any links to your wallpaper or configs that you may have and/or the names of your icon theme, running apps, DE, etc. in the same post to reduce unnecessary clutter later.

***** Your screenshot will be replaced by a reminder if you do not follow these guidelines *****

* As a simple way to include information about your setup in the screenshot, you can use a tool like screenfetch (in [community]) or Archey, screenfo or alsi (all in AUR) to print out details about your window manager, font, shell etc., with a very attractive ASCII Arch logo...

Re: May 2015 Screenshots Thread

Pretty much your basic Gnome 3.16 with my all-time favorite wallpaper, Numix GTK + icons, and some neat extensions.

Wallpaper: http://imgur.com/Qku7t1Z

I've hidden the Activites menu and disabled its hot corner with the Activities configurator extension, and placed the tray icons on the top panel with the Topicons extension.

Also, the tray icons from left to right are Redshift, Chromium, and Insync.

Re: May 2015 Screenshots Thread

Finally made my mind and installed BE::Shell on my notebook - where i've Plasma5 since its entrance in [extra].
With some adjustments it runs fine, replacing plasmashell as default as it's supposed to do on KDE SC4 for plasma-desktop.
Notice, BE::Shell is not KF5 based yet though, i'm using the Qt4 version based on kdelibs, waiting for the KF5 one to hit the scene tongue

schermata255.png

schermata256.png

The theme is a homemade clone of yosemite dark mode, currently a WIP, but i could share it, if someone is interested.
Dockbar and sidebar are made with BE::Shell components.
Qt4/5 style is DSP, which still doesn't provide a decoration for KF5 KWin (for that, i'm using Breeze).
Window colors: a mod of Breeze Dark
Icon theme: Paper
File Manager: still unreleased, and can't share any detail on it unfortunately

P.s. Screencast from my desk showin' the current stage of this theme

Re: May 2015 Screenshots Thread

Finally got around to installing Arch Linux on my new desktop machine.  Went with openbox, cairo-dock and trayer.  Really liking it so far.

I have really wanted to try BE:Shell, could you direct me to some resources for setting that up?

Sure:

Official Wiki: https://sourceforge.net/p/be-shell/wiki/browse_pages/

And here's a Repository that i and a friend made to share our configs (notice: it's not 'ready' yet, scripts are currently err...awful...but they should work. Some themes will need adjustments in any case): https://github.com/Bedevil/be.shell

I'm currently busy working at the preset in the screenshots (which also includes themes for GTK2, Firefox, plasmashell - this last one used by kwin), but ASAP i'll clean up scripts & configs.

Thanks! I had some minor issues with monsterwm and decided to try something different out. I've been using this for a bit over a year now and it just feels like a new home for me.
