Running a fairly fresh install of x86 Arch Gnome 3.16 on:
Asus Q551LNB Laptop
Intel i7-5500U @ 2.40GHz
2GB Discrete NVIDIA GeForce 840M
8GB System RAM
xf86-video-intel
NVIDIA latest
I am running Bumblebee but not using for video.
I have installed everything the wiki says to get video/DVD playback to work. But no matter which player (tried mplayer, xine, vlc) I get what you see in the screenshot. If I mover the window around it stays the same. I am not getting any tearing.
Any ideas appreciated.
Edit: Solved by using lts kernel. This also solved my resume from suspend crashes...

If it is not set to auto set it to auto
otherwise try them one at a time see if any help and dont use ASCII for obvious reasons

It was on auto. This happens in all my video players from DVD's, avi's and mp4's...

Try the linux-lts kernel, it seems Intel and the 4.0 kernel don't like each other.

Ok, I can try that. I'll have to do some wiki reading and figure it out. Never swapped kernels before...
