[PARTIALLY-SOLVED]lua-bitop v/s community/lua52-bitop?

Hello,

I am in the process of upgrading my system and it asks me ":: Replace lua-bitop with community/lua52-bitop? [Y/n]  "

I'm not sure which one to choose ? How and what does one see to know the differences between the two and to make more informed decision ?

Also, What should I choose ? Should I replace it ?

lua52-bitop is the Lua 5.2 version. lua-bitop is the Lua 5.3 version. They had to be split because 5.2 and 5.3 are not compatible if I am not mistaken.

Usually you can just do what pacman proposes.

It may be because one of the packages you have installed depends specifically on lua52-bitop.

lua-bitop doesn't exist anymore because apparently it does not support lua 5.3 yet and the lua package recently went from 5.2 to 5.3. So basically it's the same package with a different name.

Use lua52-bitop, it is indeed the same package as previously lua-bitop. Thus it is merely a package rename.

There is no lua-bitop package in Arch repos anymore as this library was not ported to 5.3 https://www.freelists.org/post/luajit/P … op-to-53,1
