WLAN device missing after upgrade from linux 4.0.1-1 -> 4.0.2-1

Hi,

after the upgrade from linux-4.0.1.-1 -> 4.0.2-1 my wlan device went missing, i'm using the bcm5974 driver on a MacBookAir4,2. After downgrading it worked as usual.

Posting this because i'm curious why this happened and as a workaround if someone has the same problem.

Please provide more information: bcm5974 is not a driver, it sounds like a chip ID - though it's not one I can find in any of the lists of supported chips.

What is the output of `lspi -vnn | grep 1434`?  Did you have to use an AUR package for the driver?  Did you reboot after the kernel upgrade?

EDIT: I take it this must be a chip ID as there is a kernel driver called bcm5874 but this is not for wireless, but for multitouch trackpads.  Or did you just see bcm5874 in the lsmod output and figure it was for wireless?

And which package do you use for wl?  I'm assuming it's not one of the DKMS varieties, and if this is so, it needs to be rebuilt with kernel upgrades.
