Keyboard spontaneous "ctrl" key

Hi, I wasn't sure if this was the right place or not, but this is getting rather frustrating. At some point, my keyboard started randomly inserting "1"s into whatever I'm typing into, and from that point all my keyboard input will act as if the "ctrl" key were being held. On rare occasion, it also applies to my mouse, and I can't get it to "unstick". The stupidest thing is that I can't recreate it, and it seems to be spontaneous.

is there some setting I may have toggled, or keyboard shortcut (stickykeys?) that I unconsciously turned on? This is driving me nuts.

E: (immediately after posting this, the issue *appears* to have gone away, all I did was tap the control key in an annoyed manner a few times. Still would like to know what happened; stickykeys confirmed?)

E2: I LIED IT'S BACK BUT NOT AS MUCH AS LAST TIME

It might be a hardware issue tbh; my computer is kind of falling apart and it's entirely possible i've managed to screw up my keyboard somehow.

Re: Keyboard spontaneous "ctrl" key

Sounds like hardware issues but post some logs

dmesg
/var/log/Xorg.0.log

Re: Keyboard spontaneous "ctrl" key

I think i may have the same problem ... suddenly my pc started inserting "2", as if i had that key pressed and some keys stopped working, Like the 'backspace' or the 'o' key... The thing is that i rebooted my computer and this problem is not gone, so now i cant log in because i cant type my password.

Re: Keyboard spontaneous "ctrl" key

Try to isolate the issue. Does it work with a different keyboard?
