applesmc driver failing

It seems that applesmc will not load on my laptop any more (it's worked fine for the last couple of years). When I try to load the module, it fails with this output in the kernel log: http://sprunge.us/dCKO

Any ideas what could have caused this or how I can debug it?

What about "resetting" the SMC?
Shutdown your Mac / unplugg the battery / press the power button for 5-7 seconds /
plugg the battery back / startup your Mac / enjoy Arch again (hoppefully!)
