Where that LED is - on a notebook? What kind of notebook?

I have Lenovo x240. LED is under F1 button.

I've seen this on some lenovos with multiple output devices - e.g., an "internal" PCH and an HDMI output where the HDMI output is the default for both output and control. Setting the right default for *both* output (pcm) and control (ctl) in asoundrc usually gets it working right.
Do you have multiple sound devices (aplay -l) and if so, what is in your asoundrc/asound.conf?

I have never played with multiple output device. My laptop has Mini Display Port but I haven't used it.

Subdevice #0: subdevice #0Before some days I solved this problem on this forum, but I'm not sure if there is some dependency.

Oops, sorry, that was a red-herring. You only have one device, so this is a different issue.

From yesterday evening is LED working without problem. I guess it was fixed by system upgrade. :]
