cdc_acm not detecting URG_04LX_UG01 Laser

whenever i connect my urg_04lx_ug01 laser via usb it doesnt show which acm port it is on.
my cdc_acm module is on, and detected my arduino board.

but when i plug in my laser, it shows this instead.

any suggestions would be great.
I am running this on a Raspberry Pi B+ , with an arduino uno r3 connected via serial usb. the hokuyu urg 04lx ug01 laser is connected via usb, but i cut out the power to feed 5v into it instead since it needs a certain amount of voltage to run.
