Laptop power issues (ACPI?)

I'm running Arch on my lenovo u530 touch laptop, and have been running it since Dec.

The last few months something strange has been happening. The machine is really slow to recognize if the power cord is connected, or disconnected. The screen brightness buttons sometimes work, but can be delayed (I'm talking a few minutes, not just a couple of seconds), and other times just don't work at all.

I don't see anything interesting in journalctl, so I'm turning to the forums for suggestions. I'm more than happy to provide any command output that might show some information, but I'm not sure where to start. Any ideas?

Also, I'm not entirely sure, but I think this same issue is causing the system to hang when shutting down if it was being weird when running. If I don't keep the system up very long (like a few minutes) and start the shutdown, it finishes without a hitch.
