Dell P2815Q Monitor Not Waking Up

I recently got a new monitor and have discovered that when the monitor goes to sleep, it doesn't wake up when I move the mouse or press keys on the keyboard (for the record, my old monitor woke up fine). If I turn the monitor off and back on again via its power button, my desktop is displayed as expected. The monitor is connected via HDMI to my graphics card: NVIDIA GK208 [GeForce GT 720]. I am using nvidia drivers. However, I observed the same issue with my Intel integrated graphics as well with the new monitor.

I have looked both in dmesg and /var/log/Xorg.0.log and don't see anything obviously amiss. Particularly, mentions of 'dpms' aren't accompanied by error messages. Does anyone have tips for debugging this? I've exhausted the things I know to check.
