Bluetooth mouse works in Gnome but not I3

I've paired my mouse using gnome settings and it works normally and auto connects to the mouse when its on

However, when i boot directly into the I3 window manager, there is not any auto connection to the mouse.

So i tired to connect via bluetoothctl

sudo bluetoothctl
[NEW] Controller 60:57:18:EB:E2:C1 bowser [defaul
[NEW] Device E8:00:DE:2F:13:BB MX Master
[bluetooth]# connect E8:00:DE:2F:13:BB
Attempting to connect to E8:00:DE:2F:13:BB
Failed to connect: org.bluez.Error.Failed

This method always fails, what am i doing wrong here?

In the wiki, look up the gamepad article and try the steps under "Playstation 3 controller over bt". It might fill your gaps.
