Hello everyone,
I have two DKMS modules that provide psmouse.ko: psmouse/alps-1.3 and psmouse-dkms-alpsv7/1.0. I couldn't remember which one, if any, is active for the kernel I use, so I checked dkms status. It said "installed" for both of them, and "WARNING! Diff between built and installed module!" for psmouse-dkms-alpsv7. I noticed earlier that I get this warning for earlier installed DKMS modules when I install a new DKMS module that provides the same actual module than the earlier one. So I assumed I installed psmouse-dkms-alpsv7 earlier, so it's inactive; and psmouse/alps-1.3 later, so it's active. I did "dkms uninstall psmouse-dkms-alpsv7/1.0" just in order to not see that annoying warning. But then I got the same "Diff between built and installed module" warning for psmouse/alps-1.3 ! As far as I understand, this shouldn't happen because there's no other module providing psmouse.ko that I would have installed earlier (I installed just these two.) So this is either a bug, or I don't understand something correctly. If the latter is the case, I would be happy if someone could shed light on this for me! ![]()
