Inspircd error: /var/log/inspircd/startup.log: Permission denied

I made a new user called irc and put the user in the log group.

This is what it looks like in /var/log/inspircd:

total 4
-rw-r--r-- 1 irc log 368 Jun 25 18:24 startup.log

But the error message in the topic stays. Now I do want to point out that changeing the owner of the file like shown is what i tried after getting the same error message in the first place. It was obviously root:root.

Re: Inspircd error: /var/log/inspircd/startup.log: Permission denied

Did you configure inspircd to run as the irc-user?

Re: Inspircd error: /var/log/inspircd/startup.log: Permission denied

I got the idea from the archwiki.

The archwki on the subject is rather confusing to me.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/InspIRCd

One can read:
Installing InspIRCd
Note: Before you begin, check that you do not have any user or group named inspired as the package will create and run using this user privileges (for security reasons).

Bbut then further down it says:

The first start fails sometimes so try restarting until you get no errors. After this you shall have no further problems. The reason behind this is because of security reasons the daemon doesn't run as root as you normally would see, so the script must ensure that the user irc has permission to write/read the pid and log files. To start on boot just add (as always) [inspircd] to the [daemons] section in the /etc/rc.conf file.

Si tried everything that that I tried to begin with, only instead of using irc, i tried a user called inspired. Same error.
