After some update more than a month ago my family was horrified by a maximum volume full frequency spectrum high frequency rich noise coming from the system every time I booted it with the cd channel unmuted. After using the cd channel for tvtime the noise would just disappear until the next boot. That was using alsa and some epox motherboard with onboard sound. Now I'm using oss on an intel motherboard with onboard sound for the same install, and the noise is still there. Any ideas please?
Edit: Or may be the tunner, hardware failure?
