Solved. See below.
I've been trying desperately for the past week or so to get StarCraft running well in Wine. I have the highest amount of success using ChaosLauncher. No matter what I do, including many combinations of disabling window manager control, playing in a virtual Desktop, and using Wine versions 1.4 and 1.6.2 in PoL and 1.7.45, my game will crash when I try to go into Battle.net. I've tried various window managers (My primary, bspwm; openbox; and even Gnome).
Unless I can get it working, I'm thinking of resorting to completely reformatting my hard drive or setting up a VirtualBox for it. I'd like very much to avoid doing either, though. I've done tons of searching and I haven't found anything that's allowed me to get to the point where I can enter my login information to access Battle.net.
When crashing, the game offers only this seemingly unhelpful line:
wine: Unhandled page fault on write access to 0x0146b000 at address 0x3d0094 (thread 0043), starting debugger...and crashes. Once I hit 'Close' on the Program Error box, my terminal gets spammed by this:
err:winedbg:dbg_handle_debug_event 0033:0035: not a registered process or thread (perhaps a 16 bit one ?)System Specs:
MoBo: Asus P8B75-M/CSM-R
CPU: Intel i3-2100
GPU: Nvidia GTX 650Ti
RAM: Team Elite 4GB DDR3 SDRAM (x2)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have no idea why is it crashing, but on my pc it runs out of the box running standard wine.

A full system reformat later and the crash still happens. I also tried a 64-bit prefix and changing to the nouveau drivers. Still nothing. I've updated the main post with some specs in case they're relevant.
Update: After giving this bug report a read, I decided to try installing the ttf-ms-fonts package. I am now able to log into Battle.net. Always the simplest explanations that elude you, isn't it?
