[Solved] Screen tearing with intel gpu

I'm not sure which one but one of the recent updates caused tearing to appear when watching videos and fast scrolling.

I'm using a thinkpad X61 and have the tear free option enabled in 20-intel.conf. It used to work flawlessly before. Anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

Re: [Solved] Screen tearing with intel gpu

Does the tearing occur from the moment you start the desktop?

I have noticed that the "TearFree" option stops being applied if a screensaver is used or if I switch from the X server to a console and back again.

You could try using compton instead of the driver option.

compton --backend glx --paint-on-overlay --vsync opengl-mswc

Alternatively, try the "uxa" acceleration method.
