Not sure if this is the correct subforum..
I'm looking for libssl.a, but I cannot figure out what package I need.
The openssl packages I find only contains the shared libraries, and I would like to avoid having to compile from source.

I did a little reading into this and the OpenSUSE forums suggested that static libs were removed, since that's what they did with their OpenSSL package.
I had a look around with Google and static libraries are indeed removed from packages with the !staticlibs flag in /etc/makepkg.conf.
So, it looks like you have to invert that flag to staticlibs and build openssl from source to get the library you want. Or at least, I think it's the openssl package.
Claire is fine.
Problems? I have dysgraphia, so clear and concise please.
