Re: [SOLVED] Recent surprise Xorg crash on Intel Broadwell-U

I get the same random crashes on my Haswell 4770. I also found the same crash log here (couldn't find who posted it though), apparently affecting somebody using a Radeon.

What's at least as annoying is that when I restart the xserver, both mouse and keyboard are gone – X log contains only that evdev unloads and "preinit returned 2" – with no way to restore them other than rebooting via power button. This happens independently of the crash, and also on my Haswell 4200U.

Trace doesn't contain anything from the Intel driver and that Radeon is affected as well, so probably not.

Anyway, here's an apparent freedesktop bug report.

Re: [SOLVED] Recent surprise Xorg crash on Intel Broadwell-U

Why go with "probably not" when it would take all of 30 seconds to test and verify?

The default SNA acceleration leads to a *wide* range of issues on each new iteration of intel hardware.  I have had several intel cards of various generations, and even though I was fully aware of the sna/uxa issues, it took me a while to realize the issue with my new Broadwell was also due to the same cause that formerly (but no longer) affected older hardware.

Re: [SOLVED] Recent surprise Xorg crash on Intel Broadwell-U

I've had my Haswell for two years and no issues, plus the same driver version was present before the issue started. But ok, I'll test. Not gonna be 30 sec though as for me the crash is random.

edit:Same crash.

Is your microcode being patched at boot properly?

Haven't had a crash since upgrading. Touch wood. Not sure how I can mark this thread as answered?

Edit the title of the thread (in your first post) and add "[SOLVED]" to the start.
