Re: None Function Programs

I would say that we are missing some important information from you. Sorry but you have already provided us with actually nothing about your configuration...
What is your DE/WM? What terminal? What is "settings"? What do you call the "default web browser"?

Not around here...

Please read How To Ask Questions The Smart Way: your threads are devoid of any useful information, It may be a alnguage barrier, in which case you should post in your native tongue on the Other Languages board, but it is probably as much a result of you not thinking through your issue and trying to understand what is causing it yourself.

Re: None Function Programs

Are you sure you installed Arch? Arch doesn't have defaults.

Re: None Function Programs

You don't need to run any particular command to provide basic information such as:

  • The window manager/desktop environment you are using

  • Elaborated explanation about what you mean with "youtube screen shows black" (the entire web page? or just the video box?)

  • What you mean with "settings"

and what you have tried so far to solve the problem (which we yet fail to fully understand).

Re: None Function Programs

Since you ignored me in the other thread, I'll repost my question here as it is once again relevant:

Then you should pose your question to the maker of that video.  Or at least tell us what video so we can see just how horribly mislead you have been.  I'd suggest starting over and rather than trying to cut corners for a 'quick and easy' go for slow and steady (and successful) by following the beginner's guide.

If you will not start over to install archlinux properly, then at the very least point us to what video you used.  If you will not do that, this thread will be closed and binned.  As noted in my post at the end of the other thread, you are now wasting the time and goodwill of community members here because you refused to invest any of your own time figuring out what you were doing.

This approach is unwelcome here.

Re: None Function Programs

There's over an hour of video there - it takes less time to follow the wiki.  The good news is that video is recent, and it seems like the video maker is giving reasonable advice.  But you clearly have not followed it - your other posts showed your mirrorlist with more than six mirrors uncommented.  If you followed that video, you'd only have six.  And that video also enables multilib which you clearly did not do before.  So as you clearly didn't even follow the unofficial video you claimed to follow, I reiterate: you should start over and do it right or you'll just face one problem after another.

(edit: crap, that video enables archlinux.fr ... that's bad - and recommends partial upgrades ... that's worse).

Re: None Function Programs

i managed to install konsole

I would advise against installing KDE applications in GNOME. You'll end up with a mess. xterm is sufficient if you're having problems with GNOME terminal.

Points:
1) The "default web browser" is technically called Epiphany though I don't blame you for not knowing that. That's the fault of the GNOME team for deciding to remove the recognisable names from their applications. Anyway, you might want to try installing flashplugin for youtube videos.
2) Regarding GNOME terminal not opening, I would imagine you are missing your /etc/locale.conf file. That might also be why gnome-control-center (which is what you're referring to when you're saying "settings") fails to start.
