hey guys, I've been trying to install Arch as a learning process. I am fascinated by the way you have to install it and I think using it will help teach me linux much faster than any other way.
I used to use ubuntu but then got bored with it.. It seemed like an OSX clone type thing.
So I have a Macbook Air 6,1 (2014 model) and I've been trying to install a single boot Arch Linux on it. I've gone through the beginners guide (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners'_guide), watched a bunch of youtube videos.. And even translated a french guide to english to try to get this thing working... I think the biggest problem is getting it to work with the mac's EFI.. I do not wish to use rEFInd or something similar, nor do I want to try to do bios emulation.
So I did everything up to downloading GRUB in the beginner guide, then I switched the french version to do the "mac specific" stuff it wanted me to do. (Found here under "Installation": https://wiki.archlinux.fr/MacBook)
Now when I start the computer... Grub shows up, then when I pick the first option.. Arch Linux.. I get the errors:
Error: No such device: *UUID IS HERE*.
Loading Linux core repo kernel ...
error: no such partition.
loading initial ramdisk ...
alloc magic is broken at 0x6144bac0: 614df220
Aborted. Press any key to exit.
What did I do wrong?
There is not much info on the web about installing arch on a mac, I have been looking but I cannot find anything real. I just cannot get past this part...
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Paste a copy of the /etc/fstab here so we can see what you've got setup.

So is the UUID in your grub cfg correct?

Wow a feel like a dummy..
You actually have to generate the grub CFG to look at it.. or for grub to work. Doh.
Thanks alot to the both of you, I guess all that reading made my brain into mush and I forgot.
Until next time...

LOL
Glad you made up the 3%.
If this is solved, you may want to mark it as such.
