[SOLVED]Installing fonts problem

Hey guys! So im trying to install the slarch font from the aur but unsure how. Ive read the wiki but it doesnt really say anything on how to install from Aur packages. So what I did was just run a regular makepkg and it seemed to have worked because when I used fc-list | grep stlarch stlarch showed up, however it doesnt show up in xfontsel or when I use it in lemonbar. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Re: [SOLVED]Installing fonts problem

What aur package is this?  I get no font related results for a search for slarch - only slarchive which is defnitely not a font.

(edit: ah, I gather you mean stlarch ... standby)

Did you add /usr/share/fonts/ to your X11 font path?

I did not! Thank you! I added FontPath "/usr/share/fonts" to my xorg.conf but im not sure if the changes worked. How would I check?

Re: [SOLVED]Installing fonts problem

I did that before having added the font path to the X11 config file and stlarch had already showed. But still isnt showing in xfontsel

What is the output from the following

grep stl /usr/share/fonts/local/fonts.dir

Re: [SOLVED]Installing fonts problem

And can you use that font string (everything after stlarch.pch.gz) for lemonbar or other programs?

Nope hmm Been stumped on this problem for some time now. Most fonts ive "installed" somehow never seem to actually work when I use them

Re: [SOLVED]Installing fonts problem

I doubt I can help, but I'll try anyway as I've had my fair share of encounters with fonts.

Can you link the URL to the AUR package for this font? Can you also take a screenshot of the contents of '/usr/share/fonts/'?

And even though I assume you've already done this, did you enter 'fc-cache -vf' to update the font cache?

Here you go! https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/stlarch_font/

Heres a screenshot http://i61.tinypic.com/2l8jcyc.jpg
and yes I did run fc-cache -vf

Well I'm vexed. I tried installing it, and it appeared to have installed. It showed up in the list of fonts in Firefox preferences.

I can't see a single thing you've done wrong in what you've said. But just for the sake of testing, can you try and see if this AUR font works? It's the one I use, and am certain works as a package: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/ohsnap/

Im finding the font in my firefox prefrence too. Maybe im just not loading the font correctly in lemonbar. That might be the problem.

Re: [SOLVED]Installing fonts problem

Solver my problem! What I did was ran # mkfontscale & #mkfontdir then fc-cache in  /usr/share/fonts/local then after ran xset +fp /usr/share/fonts/local ! Link to the thread that helped me solve my problem https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=155264
