Asus N550J no longer able to connect to wifi network

I'm having a weird issue trying to connect to a wireless network. Other devices work fine, and up until yesterday so did my laptop. But today it is refusing to connect.
Netctl reports constant loss of connection then reestablishment of the connection. Trying to connect by wpa_supplicant manually shows a successful authentication then immediate CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED with reason 4.
I haven't updated any packages since a week ago. No settings on the router have changed. I have already tried restarting the router.
I only have internet access on my phone so I apologise for not being able to post any command outputs hmm
Not sure if this makes a difference but this isn't my home network. I am using this WiFi network abroad.
