Edit: I can't get it to work in Ubuntu either. It could be related to the new Virtualbox.
Edit2: More probably to the new Windows... https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/14361
Hi,
My first post in five years or something like that, after a "short" detour to the ubuntuland.
I have just installed arch in a virtual machine in Virtualbox 5.0.0, but I can't get the sound to work, and I have to admit that I'm a bit confused about Pulseaudio vs Alsa.
I have installed pulseaudio, pulseaudio-alsa and surley a few other things...
[jaqob@arch-vbox Downloads]$ pulseaudio --start
[jaqob@arch-vbox Downloads]$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: I82801AAICH [Intel 82801AA-ICH], device 0: Intel ICH [Intel 82801AA-ICH]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
[jaqob@arch-vbox Downloads]$ cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [I82801AAICH ]: ICH - Intel 82801AA-ICH
Intel 82801AA-ICH with STAC9700,83,84 at irq 21
I can unmute
[jaqob@arch-vbox Downloads]$ amixer sset Master unmute
Simple mixer control 'Master',0
Capabilities: pvolume pswitch pswitch-joined

Limits: Playback 0 - 65536
Mono:
Front Left: Playback 34881 [53%] [on]
Front Right: Playback 34881 [53%] [on]
But when I try to play an video, for example, it just shows the first frame, complaining about the audio
