Hi
I am experiencing a problem with pacman. When I issue the following command;
pacman -Syu
to upgrade the system, it is giving the following error;
Starting full system upgrade...
resolving dependencies...
looking for conflicting packages...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: lib32-libgphoto2: requires libgphoto2=2.5.7
I suspect that the error is not common as when I search for this error;
lib32-libgphoto2: requires libgphoto2=2.5.7
Google is giving me only one result. So can anyone here help to fix this error?
PS. Please let me know that if you need need more info.
Thanks

My guess is that lib32-libgphoto2 is an AUR package that needs updating. The official package for libgphoto2 was updated to version 2.5.8.
EDIT: Since it seems you are new to the forums, welcome
I have some recommended reading for you so you can understand the problem a bit better:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ar … Repository
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Makepkg
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_Build_System
Also keep in mind that we are close to a move to AUR4, so many maintainers have already dropped the support for their packages in the current AUR. The new address is aur4.archlinux.org (will change on the 8th of August.

The error is pretty common and often posted on the forum, since people either misunderstand it or forget that they have to take care of the packages installed from the AUR or unofficial repositories.

Yes, I am new here, thanks
From the above two answers, it seems to me that the only solution here is to wait until the things get updated. Please correct if I am wrong.

Yup, or update it yourself. Another option is to uninstall the package (and all that depends on it).

I think I have to wait as packer is saying that the package is already installed.

No need to use anything else than makepkg.
Post the exact command you run and the exact warning / error you got.

Also, at AUR page, lib32-libgphoto2 is missing, may be moved to somewhere!!

Edit: If this package is needed, bump the version number, update checksums etc.http://sourceforge.net/projects/gphoto/files/libgphoto/

I manage to temporary solve (or not solve) the problem by removing:
lib32-sane
lib32-libgphoto
But I have no idea that what impact this removal will make on my system.
However, now I can upgrade my system.
If there will be any problem, I will come back. Meanwhile, thanks for your help
