How to debug kexec hang on kexec reboot hang?

I have a MacBook Pro 6,2, running an updated version of Arch Linux.  I have followed the kexec Wiki configuration page, but to no avail.

I have a dedicated ext4 /boot partition, and a dm-crytpt container, witha LVM group with separate /, /var, and /home partitions within.  I have set up the systemd files specific to a separate boot partition, re-ran mkinticpio -P after I removed the shutdown hook from HOOKS in mkinitcpio.conf as required.  Still, it hangs on

Starting new kernel ...

I need to force a reboot after that.  Another Arch user reported the same issue, but got no responses.  Any thoughts
