Safe way to restore and update a one year old backup.

Hi,

I've been away from Arch Linux for about a year. I have an rsync backup on a hard drive and would like to restore and update it without any problems. What would be a safe, step by step way of doing so without running into conflicts. I tried restoring it a couple weeks ago and it did not work. If theres any more info about my system or my backup that i need to share, you're welcome.

Thanks

Read through the News for the period you haven't updated: this will flag any issues you are likely to come across.

As for conflicts, there are no guarantees you won't encounter any...

Not an Installation issue, moving to NC...
