gnome notification area problem

Helloooo archaholics.

So, I have the notification applet in the gnome panel but apps like liferea, banshee etc, are putting the icons in a floating small metacity window instead. Like crazy style.

Can any kind folk tell me, is it a bug? is it a feature? is it a bit too hard to tell these days?

Cheers

Re: gnome notification area problem

That has only happened to me before if the notification area has been unavailable in KDE - it has never happened in gnome, and liferea + banshee runs fine in the notification area here.

Re: gnome notification area problem

It seems it only happens if i startx into gnome. If I switch to runlevel 5 and gdm it's ok....

If it's not happening to anyone else then it's probably just an anomaly on my machine.

thanks

Re: gnome notification area problem

I once had it when starting Akregator and Kopete on startup, but I couldn't reproduce it afterwards.
