[SOLVED] nVidia HDMI audio output problem

Im setting up my new computer to play audio via hdmi.
I installed the nvidia package with all the dependencies from official repos.
Now, the video works perfectly, but I can't get the audio to work.

aplay -l does not even show the output card:

**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC887-VD Analog [ALC887-VD Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

lspci, however, detects this:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GM204 [GeForce GTX 970] (rev a1)
01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation GM204 High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1)

And on kodi or kde, I am unable to select devices either.

I'm kind of stuck already and don't have a clue how to go on, any help would be much appreciated smile

Check your Xorg.0.log see if it shows any related errors

cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep HDMI

Re: [SOLVED] nVidia HDMI audio output problem

I solved it by disabling the integrated hda audio from the bios.
Sounds like some kind of incompatibility or two modules colliding..... now, its working smile
