[Solved] System locks up on start

Just installed arch on a brand new laptop, I'm running plasma with sddm, I have the xf86-video-intel driver installed and this is a UEFI boot. Soon as I boot into the system it becomes almost completely unresponsive. I say almost completely unresponsive because I'm able to use anything that I open before it locks up. After the lock I am unable to open anything else.  The CTRL-ALT-F1 does nothing. I have read serveral posts with the exact same issue as I'm having but have yet to see one that has been solved. Every post I have seen points to the video driver, some being ATI some Intel.

This is one post that has the exact same issues:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=132829
except my keyboard works, I also have to ALT tab to my other open applications.

Also here is the xorg log:

Re: [Solved] System locks up on start

Hi - do you have intel-ucode installed? This can solve some issues like for example the constant crash error which I had with cinnamon desktop  - and also how did you install xorg was it pacman -S xorg? Plus is the laptop the very latest if so intel-ucode may or may not solve the problem.

Edit: Also re-generate your xorg.conf file after the intel-ucode for detailed instructions here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xorg#Installation
