[SOLVED] Black screen on boot with AMD dual graphics (APU)

Hi archers,

I have a Samsung NP305V5A laptop, and since I installed GNOME on fresh system, screen remains black. Until I found that the system is actually booted up in GNOME, since I can hear sound systems (like when you turn up sound with Fn+F8). If I connect an active HDMI device (like a home cinema), the screen turns on and everything works perfect, even if then I remove the HDMI cable. I'm pretty sure it's a simple problem to fix, but I couldn't find the solution yet.

But I couldn't fix it with acpi_backlight=vendor kernel parameter. I also tried the fbcon=map:1 parameter that's advised in the wiki, still no luck.

I used Arch Linux for some years on this laptopt, and never got this particular issue. I come from a brief Windows 8.1 install (bios updates...) so I'm not able to figure out what package could possibly brind this bug.

If you need some other information about the laptop, feel free to ask. I'd appreciate your help about this.

EDIT: I guess I didn't try the easy way first. I rolled back to linux-lts and everything seems to work great. Not really solved, but at least it's a better workaround than connecting an HDMI on every boot. I'm sure I could have done better on this one big_smile
