PCManFM won't save layout settings

Someone please tell me I'm not being dumb here.

My layout settings aren't getting saved to pcmanfm.conf
I'm trying to have it on detailed list view, specific columns + widths and dual pane mode by default. However none of these settings are persistent - reopen it and they're gone.

I've checked the permissions on pcmanfm.conf and they are rw/r/r owned by me so nothing wrong there. Other settings save so it's obviously not having trouble writing to the file in the first place.
I've deleted the folder in ~/.config, the program recreated it but these settings still won't save.

I know for sure that the view setting at least is stored in the config file.

Am I missing something really simple?

Re: PCManFM won't save layout settings

I have more or less the same problem. I would like to have a smaller column width for "Name". I can change the width by moving the spacer between the categories but as soon I  access another folder, is jumps to the original width. I was trying to change the width in the config file (config/pcmanfm/default/pcmanfm.config) but as soon I restart PcManFM the config file is overwritten with its standard values.

PCManFM 1.2.4
