No ticket chache?

Hi, I want to access a Brother DCP 7020 on a windows computer, and I have already configured the printer et al (the PPD is of a slightly different printer, but the same PPD worked last time).

The problem arises when I try to actually print. When I do, I get the cryptic error message "Can not the ticket cache for $USER" ($USER being the user to whome belongs the printing job). Here's a snippet of the log when I tried printing a test page from the web interface:

I [29/Mar/2006:21:36:50 -0500] Job 2 queued on 'Zaphod' by 'root'. I [29/Mar/2006:21:36:50 -0500] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstops (PID 3098) for job 2.
I [29/Mar/2006:21:36:50 -0500] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip (PID 3099) for job 2.
I [29/Mar/2006:21:36:50 -0500] Started backend /usr/lib/cups/backend/smb (PID 3100) for job 2.
E [29/Mar/2006:21:36:50 -0500] PID 3099 stopped with status 22!
I [29/Mar/2006:21:36:50 -0500] Hint: Try setting the LogLevel to "debug" to find out more.
E [29/Mar/2006:21:36:50 -0500] [Job 2] No ticket cache found for userid=0
E [29/Mar/2006:21:36:50 -0500] [Job 2] Can not get the ticket cache for root

I summon daemons from the depths of /etc/rc.d
