[Solved] Gnome no longer works after kernel/driver update

After I updated my system saturday, gdm no longer seems to work. (my encrypted swap also stoped working, not sure if related)
pacman.log :

[2015-08-22 18:59] [ALPM] upgraded mesa (10.6.4-1 -> 10.6.5-1)
...
[2015-08-22 19:00] [ALPM] upgraded linux (4.1.4-1 -> 4.1.5-1)
...
[2015-08-22 19:00] [ALPM] upgraded nvidia (352.30-2 -> 352.30-3)
...

it seems that gdm is unable to run X server, but I'm not sure why. Also I see some mentions of wayland, why is that?

"No screens found" means you don't have the correct video drivers.

Check your xorg configuration file.

Re: [Solved] Gnome no longer works after kernel/driver update

"No screens found" means you don't have the correct video drivers.

does this means that the driver wasnt update properly? it was working before the update...

I dont remember creating any config file for xorg, the wiki says

Note: Arch supplies default configuration files in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d, and no extra configuration is necessary for most setups.

so I never created one...

In which case, downgrade the NVIDIA driver and see if that fixes things.

Re: [Solved] Gnome no longer works after kernel/driver update

I found what was wrong. Turns out that when I updated the system, systemd failed to automatically mount the boot partition, so pacman ended up putting the kernel and creating the initramfs in the /boot folder, instead of the boot partition. Copying the new kernel and the initramfs from the folder to the boot partition fixed everything.

looking back, this line:

Aug 23 10:34:49 localhost /usr/lib/gdm/gdm-x-session[545]: Current Operating System: Linux localhost 4.1.4-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Aug 3 21:30:37 UTC 2015 x86_64

should have been a dead giveaway.

Thanks for the help.
