Sane won't scan - Error during device I/O

hello,

I installed ArchLinux on my T400 yesterday and I'm trying to configure my Canon MG3550 now.

The device is connected over wifi and printing works fine, but I also need the scanfunction which already drives me crazy the whole day.
Sometimes the device starts to print, but it takes a lot of tries.

I installed sane and here is my device output:

$ scanimage -L
device `pixma:MG3500_43786B000000' is a CANON Canon PIXMA MG3500 Series multi-function peripheral

I am not sure if "sane-find-scanner" is supposed to show me scanners connected over wifi, but here is the output:

$ sudo sane-find-scanner
[sudo] Passwort für serhat:

  # sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
  # result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
  # scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.

  # No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
  # you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.
  # Also you need support for SCSI Generic (sg) in your operating system.
  # If using Linux, try "modprobe sg".

  # No USB scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
  # you have loaded a kernel driver for your USB host controller and have setup
  # the USB system correctly. See man sane-usb for details.

  # Not checking for parallel port scanners.

  # Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports
  # can't be detected by this program.

Ive took a look into the wiki and found this:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/SA … ction_1270

I outlined everything except pixma, saved the file and retried the scan, which didn't work.
Scanning with resolution wont work either.
I tried it with a GUI (Xsane), but still get the same error as a pop-up.

My system is up to date.

Thanks

Best regards

Re: Sane won't scan - Error during device I/O

I haven't tested any of this (don't have the hw), but This may be relevant, though it doesn't use sane AFAICT.
