[Solved] LXDE & Mouse not responding

Greetings,

| Issue
I've tried repeatedly to install Arch + LXDE again, but now the mouse will not respond.

| Details
On another partition, I installed Arch + LXDE a week or two ago, and it went okay. (Sound/video/recording didn't work, but I assumed they need to be set-up.)

The keyboard does work.

I will post logs if you tell me where they are. smile

Thanks,
James

Re: [Solved] LXDE & Mouse not responding

You have not provided any information for us to go on.

What is your hardware?  Desktop or laptop?  usb mouse or built in?  wireless or wired?

Did you test the mouse in twm before installing LXDE?  How do you start lxde?  Have you tried other methods (e.g. if you use a display manager, try startx).

What is in your xorg log?

Re: [Solved] LXDE & Mouse not responding

Hi welcome to the Arch community.  Please read the forum etiquette, in particular the piece about bumping.
There needs to be more info provided as you have stated.  What mouse is it?  PS/2 or USB? Look at dmesg and see if it is detected and post output.  Did you install the appropriate xorg packages?  Maybe show output for

pacman -Ss xorg | grep install

.  Post xorg log.  Basically do some of your own research.  Try to work things out.  Put some effort in.  See other threads about mouse issues and post similar information.  You will garner more interest in your thread this way.  Good luck!

Re: [Solved] LXDE & Mouse not responding

frank, `pacman -Ss xorg | grep install`?  How about just `pacman -Qs xorg`?

Re: [Solved] LXDE & Mouse not responding

I was just mainly stuck because I had no troubles the first install, but this time I think installing *xorg* and/or *xf86-input-synaptics* worked.

Arch Linux, for being what it is, is on the other hand, very well documented, and I really have no complaints so far. This is a productive community. Thanks, guys.

Edit:
Good point, Trilby. This solution works for only for touchpads (and touchscreens I believe.)

So this is fixed?  If yes, please edit topic in first post and append [solved]

I take it then that the answers to my original questions would be that this is a laptop with a touchpad/trackpad as these require synaptics.  This is covered in the wiki.
