trying to set a persistence keyboard toggle between english and hebrew.
i started by following the wiki and probing my system,
➜ ~ setxkbmap -print -verbose 10
Setting verbose level to 10
locale is C
Trying to load rules file ./rules/evdev...
Trying to load rules file /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/evdev...
Success.
Applied rules from evdev:
rules: evdev
model: pc105
layout: us,ru
variant: ,
options: grp:alt_shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll,terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp
Trying to build keymap using the following components:
keycodes: evdev+aliases(qwerty)
types: complete
compat: complete+ledscroll(group_lock)
symbols: pc+us+ru:2+inet(evdev)+group(alt_shift_toggle)+terminate(ctrl_alt_bksp)
geometry: pc(pc105)
xkb_keymap {
xkb_keycodes { include "evdev+aliases(qwerty)" };
xkb_types { include "complete" };
xkb_compat { include "complete+ledscroll(group_lock)" };
xkb_symbols { include "pc+us+ru:2+inet(evdev)+group(alt_shift_toggle)+terminate(ctrl_alt_bksp)" };
xkb_geometry { include "pc(pc105)" };
apparently somewhere along the way my system got a dual lang setup between english and russian.
when i run following in shell
setxkbmap -model pc104 -layout us,il -option grp:alt_shift_toggle
i do get the change i need, but
1. where to set it to be persistante?
i put it at the end of my .zshrc (i use oh-my-zsh), and if i re-login to xorg i still have to open a terminal for it to "kick in"
2. and where is the us,ru thing set?
my .xinitrc
